Dr. Fadi Bitar is a pediatric cardiologist, healthcare executive, and innovator recognized for advancing care for congenital heart disease. He trained at AUB, SUNY Syracuse, and Boston Children’s Hospital, pioneering life-saving procedures and research. As Founding Director of AUB’s Children’s Heart Center, he helped to raise over $25 million through the Brave Heart Fund to support the care of underserved patients. He also founded Global Healthcare and Medical Services and the Beirut Global Foundation for CHD, promoting innovation and humanitarian care.

Akl Fahed, MD, MPH

Dr. Akl Fahed is a Harvard-trained cardiologist and geneticist focused on genomic risk prediction and precision medicine. He leads an NIH-funded research group advancing polygenic risk score development and implementation. Dr. Fahed holds faculty roles at Harvard, MGH, and the Broad Institute, and co-founded the digital health company Goodpath. Wallace (Minxian) Wang, Ph.D

Dr. Wallace (Minxian) Wang is a Ph.D.-trained geneticist and computational biologist specializing in cardiovascular and cancer genomics. He is a principal investigator at the Beijing Institute of Genomics with prior training at the Broad Institute and Harvard Medical School. His research, published in Nature Communications and Nature Medicine, has advanced the integration of polygenic risk into precision medicine. Dr. Wang collaborates globally to drive innovation in predictive health.

Samir Kadi, MEM, MBA

Mr. Samir F. Kadi is a seasoned business development executive with over 20 years of experience in fundraising, investment, and strategic partnerships across the MENA region. He has spearheaded major healthcare and academic initiatives, securing over $240 million in funding for leading institutions such as AUB and LAU. He leads business development efforts through impactful public-private collaborations. His expertise lies in aligning institutional goals with innovative financing strategies to drive sustainable growth.

Nada Assaf, MD Consultant
Genetic Counseling
Dr. Nada Assaf is a physician-scientist at the American University of Beirut with advanced training in medical and cancer genetics from leading institutions in France and the USA. Her expertise spans hereditary cancers, hematologic malignancies, and molecular diagnostics. At AUBMC, she leads genetic counseling and contributes to education and telehealth programs. She is dedicated to advancing precision medicine and expanding access to genomic care in the region.

Georges Nemer, PhD
Scientific Strategy
Dr. Georges Nemer is a leading genomic scientist and professor specializing in cardiovascular genetics and precision medicine, currently serving as Associate Dean for Research at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. His pioneering work has advanced understanding of genetic mutations linked to heart disease. Dr. Nemer also plays key roles in ethical oversight, editorial leadership, and science policy, both regionally and internationally.

Zahi Abdul Sater, PhD

Dr. Zahi Abdul Sater is a global health leader with expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cancer biology. He serves as Interim Dean at Phoenicia University and Senior Advisor at AUB’s Global Health Institute. Ms. Rasha Talhouk is an Executive Officer with ten years of experience in healthcare administration. She leads strategic planning, academic coordination, and operational support across clinical, research, educational, and fundraising initiatives. Her work includes budget oversight, stakeholder engagement, and managing regional healthcare projects. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Services with a focus on Leadership.
